Q: How old should my baby be before she can take her first vacation?

A: Most pediatricians will advise waiting at least until baby has received her first shots (around 2 months of age) so that she has some immunity since young babies are very sensitive to germs. However, always discuss your travel plans with your child's pediatrician. If your baby is going on a short car ride, it is far less stressful on a young traveler than, for instance, a 12 hour plane flight.

Depending on where baby's first vacation takes her, she may also need additional shots. Her pediatrician will have the best information.
