A: As a parent, you know your child best. Check the most obvious things that could cause your child to complain: a dirty diaper, hunger, trapped gas, sleepiness. If none of these things seem to be bothering your baby, offer the baby a bottle or pacifier. On airplanes, changes in altitude can cause ear pain and the act of sucking / swallowing will help alleviate any ear pain that baby may be experiencing. If this does not help, try distracting baby with her favorite toy, by talking to her, or by getting up and walking around the plane with her (as long as the "fasten seat belt" signs are not lit). Sometimes babies will cry in public places for seemingly no reason. And as parents, sometimes we are not able to sooth them. Simply try your best. Your baby will eventually calm down.
